Please join us in welcoming Hanim Woolliscroft to our team. Hanim joins as an Analyst and will be working closely with Jordan Oliveira and our Hosting team.
Having originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant and worked in a number of in-house accounting roles at firms with a global financial presence, Hanim is now returning to full time work in compliance at RQC Group. She brings with her valuable analytical skills, as well as hands-on compliance experience having recently worked previously with a boutique asset management firm where her contributions included reviewing critical compliance policies to align with FCA best practises and creating procedure flowcharts, summary reports and recommendations on conflicts of interest, including in relation to personal account dealing gift and entertainment.
We are thrilled to have Hanim’s skills and experience as part of our team, and we look forward to her contributions to further strengthening our RQA team.
Hanim says “I’m really pleased to have joined RQC Group and I have enjoyed working here so far. I look forward to continuing my career and to furthering my knowledge and experience going forward.”
Here, she provides further insights into herself and what attracted her to RQC Group…
What inspired you to pursue a career in compliance?
After taking a career break, I gained the opportunity to work within compliance for a small boutique asset manager on a voluntary basis. I really enjoyed the experience as, I found that, I was able to work more closely with the client. I had previously worked as a Chartered Accountant and had only viewed the clients broadly from a financial perspective. So, it was interesting to work more closely with clients and gain a more detailed understanding of their products and services.
What are you most looking forward to about being part of the team at RQC?
RQC Group has given me the opportunity to be involved in the hosting sector of financial services. Which is a more rapidly growing area, given events and uncertainties over recent years. I’m really looking forward to working within this sector. During my interview I also noted that many staff had remained at RQC for many years which is always a good sign.
What are you looking forward to achieving in your new role?
As Compliance is a new career area for me. I am excited to become competent in my role, to keep learning, gain experience and become a valuable member of the RQA team.
How do you approach staying organised and efficient in a fast-paced environment?
I like to keep lists and to prioritise tasks according to their deadline and importance. I approach problems early and communicate so that everyone is kept well informed.
What are some key lessons you’ve learned that will help you in your work with the RQA team?
To focus on each task in hand and not get too overwhelmed with too many things at once. To have patience and to always ask yourself, how could you have approached a situation better.
How do you unwind or recharge outside of work?
I love to socialise with friends, I enjoy walking, and I love to be outdoors. I also, take my daughter to the ballet at Covent Garden when we have a chance. But that is a rare treat.
